You can get thousands of free e-books over the course of 2025 if you know where—and when—to look. This year, Amazon prime is offering free Kindle e-books to readers, with new opportunities popping up every month. For January, Prime members can snag not one but two free Kindle e-books through Amazon’s First Reads program.
What is Amazon’s First Reads?
Amazon First Reads is a Prime-exclusive program offering early access to new e-books across a variety of genres, handpicked by Amazon’s editors. Each month, Prime members can download one free e-book from a rotating selection. Occasionally, like this month, the offer doubles, allowing members to grab two titles. Non-members can still participate but at a discounted price. These e-books can be read on any compatible Kindle device or through the free Kindle app.
How to Get Your Free Amazon Kindle E-Books in January
To claim your free e-books, visit the First Reads landing page to browse the available titles. Once you’ve chosen a book, click the “Shop Now” button. Here’s a crucial tip: avoid using the Kindle or Amazon mobile app, as the free book option might not appear. Instead, access the site via your internet browser on your phone or computer.
When on the book’s Amazon page, make sure to click the “Read for Free” or “Buy Now with 1-Click” button under the “First Reads” banner. Avoid the “Pre-order for…” button, as that will charge you. Once done correctly, the e-book will be sent directly to the Kindle linked to your Amazon account. You’ll see a confirmation message like “Thanks, [your name]!” indicating the book is being delivered to your Kindle Cloud Reader.
Free Amazon Kindle E-Books Available in January 2025
This month, Prime members can select two titles from a list of ten new Kindle e-books. Each title’s genre is listed above its name, helping you narrow down your choices. By hovering over the “See Editor Notes” link under the “Shop Now” button, you can read a brief description from the editor who selected the book.
Why You Should Take Advantage of Amazon First Reads
With thousands of free e-books available throughout the year, Amazon’s First Reads program is a fantastic way to discover new authors and genres. Whether you’re a fan of thrillers, romance, or non-fiction, there’s something for everyone. Plus, it’s a great way to make the most of your Prime membership.
