A woman has spoken of how she was forced to give life saving help to her kitten – after it got trapped in a washing machine which was on a wash cycle.
Appearing on This Morning, Liverpool resident Coutnery Drury, 22, recalled having to perform CPR on her cat in a desperate attempt to save its life.
The poor kitten, whose name is Posey, is thought to have jumped into the machine for a snooze before Courtney turned on the washer.
She told Holly and Phil: “I’d just put the wash on and without realising, she must have jumped in for a little sleep.
“Then I closed it and put the wash on.”
After 20 minutes in the washer, Courtney finally realised that her beloved pet was trapped inside the machine.
Presenter Holly said: “It’s a miracle that she’s there now.”
Asked how she knew how to perform CPR on the animal, Courtney said: “I just thought it works on humans so maybe it will work on the cat.
“I just started blowing into her nose and her mouth.”
She added that Posey’s ears started to ‘flicker’, indicating that the unlucky kitten was coming back to life.
Courtney also told how the vet was amazed with the miracle cat, saying: “They said they’d never seen anything like it.
“Every cat that has been in a washing machine has died. She’s the first.”
The Liverpudlian mum now has a sign stuck to her washing machine, urging everyone in the house to ‘check for the cat’ before switching it on.
